Arrest Warrant Issued for Grace Mugabe

Thursday, December 20, 2018

Grace Mugabe, wife of the former president of Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe, is a wanted woman in South Africa. The government has issued an arrest warrant for Mrs. Mugabe over an alleged assault in an upmarket district of Johannesburg in 2017.

After the alleged assault with an electric cable came to light in August 2017, the South African government granted Grace Mugabe diplomatic immunity. The immunity was overturned this year after the victim challenged the ruling.

“I can confirm that a warrant for the arrest of Grace Mugabe was issued last Thursday,” South African Police Service spokesman Vishnu Naidoo said in a Reuters report, adding that police were seeking Interpol’s help to enforce the warrant.
