ASCO was awarded a contract by BG to provide supply-base services to its operations in Tanzania. The three-year contract is valued at around $100 million and will be operated out of the port of Mtwara.
Under the contract, ASCO will control all the supply-base operations that support the offshore exploration program of recent major gas finds. These shorebase services will include warehousing, vessel loading and unloading, pipe yard storage, the provision of bulk chemicals as well as facilities management services.
ASCO’s CEO for the Middle East and Africa (MEA) Euan Lockhart said, “This is a fabulous contract award for us. It gives ASCO a firm foothold in East Africa. We established the company in the Middle East and Africa just over three years ago when we launched our business in Oman. This year we have just opened a new regional office in Dubai. Slowly but surely, we have been building our reputation across the region. This contract gives us an excellent foundation from which to grow our business.”
