Bahr Essalam Phase 2 Complete by Year End

Tuesday, November 6, 2018

Following a meeting with ENI CEO, Claudio Descalzi, Libya’s NOC chairman Mustafa Sanallarevealed that the Bahr Esslam Phase 2 project was nearing completion. Sanalla said that project was expected to be completed by year end.

Sanalla and Descalzi discussed ongoing operations by the Italian firm, including plans for the seven remaining wells. The first wells in phase two of the development of Bahr Essalam came online in July.

Also under discussion was the compression capacity upgrade project at the Wafa plant. First gas from the project is expected to come onstream in a matter of days. According to a statement by NOC, the Wafa plant was “a successful joint project in challenging conditions in Libya’s remote interior.”

The two men also discussed opportunities to increase production, investment and exploration, and the importance of sustainability in all activities.

“ENI is one of our significant partners, which has always supported NOC. This visit and our recent joint activities are a clear sign of the company’s ambitions for its Libyan operations. This will encourage further investment in the Libyan oil sector and provide additional opportunities to upskill and capacity build Libya’s next generation of oil sector workers,” Sanalla said.
