BASF, the world’s leading chemical company, celebrates its 150th anniversary in the entire world. BASF invited its customers, partners and employees to participate for the celebrations at Royal Maxim Palace Kempinski in New Cairo, Egypt.
Besides the celebrations and a historical retrospective, BASF has developed a comprehensive program to exchange ideas with partners on the topics of smart energy, food and urban living. As part of this program, BASF is introducing a new approach that is part of corporate strategy “We create chemistry”. This change to the company’s brand identity underlines how BASF collaborates and innovates with customers and partners to contribute to a sustainable future.
Egypt as a key growth market
“We aim to establish the Middle East as another of our core geographies, and are proud to announce that we are close to 1,000 hires across the region and I’m proud to be one of them,” said John Frijns, Vice President, Market Area Middle East & Egypt. BASF has been operating in the Middle East Region for over six decades, providing innovative products and solutions that contribute to conserving resources, ensuring good nutrition and improving quality of life for the region’s 325 million citizens.
BASF is looking at Egypt as a key growth market and has expanded its capabilities considerably to continue innovating in this important region. “Here in Egypt we moved into a new and state of the art office building. In terms of sales, we had more than 700 million Euro regional sales in 2014 and we are aiming to more than double by 2020,” said Frijns.
“Chemistry was, is and will continue to be a key industry. Science and our research will strengthen the foundations. Our strengths have grown over the past 150 years,” said Ayman Nafie, Managing Director, Egypt.
