The Nigerian government’s plans to set up modular refineries was celebrated by one of its producing states’officials, Governor Seriake Dickson of the Bayelsa state. Speaking to reporters outside of the Subsea Nations and Africa Oil and Gas Conference taking place alongside the Offshore Technology Conference that took place in Houston May 1-4, Dickson said the idea was “brilliant” and would “not only create more jobs but increase the economic fortunes of Nigeria.”
He disclosed that because of the laudable initiative, his government has fully embraced it by setting up a company – Bayelsa Petrochemical and Refinery Company Limited – to partner with willing investors to ensure that the refineries are established and up and running.
According to Dickson, the refineries, when fully onstream, will aid in curtailing the illegal refining of petroleum.
