Protests by Berbers at Libya’s Mellitah oil terminal, jointly operated by NOC and ENI, broke out on October 27. The protesters are threatening to block exports unless their demands for more constitutional rights are met. The protesters arrived in boats at the Mellitah complex. Munir Abu Saud, head of the oil workers at the port told Reuters, “They are now inside the port and have agreed with the company’s management that they will allow production to continue until Tuesday (October 28).”
The terminal has a capacity of about 160,000 bpd.
Abu Saud went on to say that workers at Mellitah had contacted the energy committee at the General National Congress assembly to help broker a solution with the protesters.
