The Bonga deepwater development will be shut down for maintenance in February. The shut in of the Bonga, Nigeria’s first deepwater project, will take an estimated 200,000 boepd of production out of Nigeria’s already beleaguered production flows.
The field is located on OML 118 and is operated by Shell Nigeria with partners Nigerian AGIP and Elf Petroleum Nigeria.
Earlier this year Shell workers at Nigeria’s Bonga oil field in the southern Niger Delta evacuated from the field, following threats by Nigerian militants.
