Algeria has a few new ministers just about one month after its president, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, was reelected to office. Bouteflika named new energy, finance, and interior ministers in a cabinet reshuffle according to APS.
The new energy minister, replacing Youcef Yousfi, is Salah Khebri. The new minister has a long history in Algeria’s largest revenue generating sector, working as an advisor at the Algerian Petroleum Institute and at Sonatrach for three decades.
Other new appointees include Abderrahmane Benkhelfa as finance minister, Nouredine Bedoui as Interior Minister, Boudjema Talai as Transport Minister, and Abdelkader Ouali as Public Works Minister. Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal, a key Bouteflika political ally, kept his post, as did the deputy defense minister.
