Cairo Bombing Leaves Two Dead

Friday, April 4, 2014

Egypt saw a series of explosions outside the Cairo University that left two dead, including a police brigadier-general. There was no immediate claim of responsibility but the attack is thought to have been targeting security forces.

Islamist militants have carried out similar attacks against security, police, and soldiers across Egypt since the last July when the army removed Mohamed Morsi from office.

According to reports the two bombs were set in the trees outside the university. The bombs killed the police officer and wounded five other security forces who were guarding the facility. Shortly after that a third blast killed one other person. Police found a fourth bomb in the area.
