Algeria’s state-run oil and gas company Sonatrach, and its partners on the Timimoun gas project, Total and Cepsa, signed a new framework agreement to accelerate the development of the gas project.
“These signatures mark a major step in the realization of the project and the strengthening of the historic partnership between Sonatrach, Total and Cepsa,” Sonatrach said in a statement.
The new agreement, which includes the presence of Algeria’s upstream oil and gas regulator, Alnaft, will take into account the specificities related to the marketing of gas extracted on the perimeter.
Production on the field will start in the spring of 2018 with a daily production of 5 Mmcf/d. To achieve this production rate 37 wells will be needed. The wells will be connected to the gas collection and treatment facilities connected to the GR5 pipeline, which in turn is connected to the HassiR’mel Gas Treatment Center.
