Monday, December 29, 2014

Chad is looking for investment from Algeria. Chadian president, Idriss Deby, currently at the end of a three-day visit to his North African neighbor is said to want the two countries to join forces in looking for investment opportunities and to help Chad in its energy sector.

On December 27 Deby attended the opening ceremony of the Algerian-Chadian Economic Meeting, which brought together hundreds of businessmen and economic operators from both countries to discuss potential investment opportunities between the two nations.

Deby called upon Algeria to help his country develop the energy sector, including pointers on the terms of oil and gas exploration and exploitation deals.

“We can work together for a better development of this sector in Chad,” Deby told the conference attendees at the opening ceremony. “We look forward to see the energy giant Sonatrach helping us with its experience to develop oil and gas blocks.”

He further noted that the mining sector could be another potential field for bilateral economic and industrial cooperation, saying his country holds large mineral deposit, including gold, uranium, zinc, cement and marble.
