Chevron and Sonatrach to Discuss Partnership

Chevron and Sonatrach will meet to discuss potential partnerships, according to a Reuters report. No further details were offered on what the potential partnerships could entail.

The Algerian state-run firm has expressed in the past its desire to develop partnerships with foreign firms to increase oil production and exports. The meeting with Chevron would be the first Sonatrach has held with a US major since protests that eventually led to the resignation of long-time leader Abdelaziz Bouteflika broke out in February.

Prior to the protests, Sonatrach had been working on a deal with US supermajor, ExxonMobil.
