The Niger Delta Avengers have struck again, hitting what seems to be their favorite target at this time, Chevron Corp. The Nigerian militant group has taken responsibility for blowing up another of the US major’s wells in the Niger Delta.
The group has hit a series of Chevron facilities over the past month or so in a string of attacks across Nigeria’s Niger Delta.
The series of attacks in the Niger Delta have led Nigeria’s crude output to drop to a 20-year low. Adding to the West African country’s woes is that Shell reportedly does not plan to attempt to fix the Forcados pipeline. According to reports the company will let hold off on pipeline repairs for now after it was attacked for the second time.
The Forcados, Brass River and Bonny Light export terminals in Nigeria are under force majeure, the Escravos terminal is delaying shipments after attacks against facilities operated by Chevron. The Qua Iboe force majeure was lifted after ExxonMobil performed repairs.
