Clontarf Advancing Talks for Equa G Block

Monday, September 25, 2017

Clontarf Energy revealed that it is advancing talks for its newly awarded Block EG-18 offshore Equatorial Guinea. The company was awarded Block EG-18 in the Equatorial Guinea June 2017 Bid Round.  The successful bidders are in discussions to finalize details over the coming months.

The company said it has long been interested in Equatorial Guinea’s deep-water potential, which is among some of the most prospective offshore areas in West Africa.  EG-18 is part of the Northern Rio Muni Basin, which Clontarf has analyzed. The company’s initial interest is in diverse Cretaceous sands plays, particularly a distal fan and turbidite channels visible on historic seismic data.  This has proven a prolific play elsewhere along the Atlantic Margin and offers great potential in Equatorial Guinea.

Block EG-18 covers approximately 5,056 sqkm of undrilled deep water acreage with several play types.  Clontarf Energy’s focus will be on working on large structural and / or stratigraphic trap targets.

Clontarf has held tentative discussions to bring in a partner on to the block.
