CNPC and CPC Corp. To Jointly Explore Niger

Chinese state-run firm CNPC has entered a joint exploration agreement with Taiwan’s CPC Corp. The agreement is for the Agadem Block in Niger.

CNPC and CPC have also agreed on a long-term supply deal for crude from Oman and West Africa. No further details were offered.

CNPC brought Niger on to Africa’s producer list in November 2011 as part of its $5 billion deal to develop the Agadem block in the eastern part of Niger.
