Sonatrach has declared the commerciality of gas discoveries in the perimeter of the El Assel license. Gazprom EP International operates the E&P project in the El Assel area of the oil-and-gas-bearing Berkine Basin. The perimeter of El Assel is located 250 km south-east of Hassi Messaoud.
According to a Sonatrach statement, production from the gas discoveries is scheduled for 2025.
“Sonatrach announces the achievement of an important step, with its partner Gazprom EP International BV, within the framework of the contract for the research and exploitation of hydrocarbons on the perimeter of El Assel and the entry into the development phase and of construction,” is indicated in the press release. This project “will allow the contribution to the supply of the gas market in full expansion.”
Sonatrach and Gazprom EP International BV work in close collaboration for the optimal development of the gas resources discovered at the level of the fields of Rhourde Sayeh and Rhourde Sayeh North (perimeter of El Assel), and this, through the realization of operations drilling of 24 new wells as well as the construction of a processing unit for the production of natural gas, condensates and LPG which will be transported through the national company’s existing transport network.
