Libya has convened a special committee in the eastern region of the country to draft a new constitution. The 47elected-member committee met in Bayda in what could be a milestone for the country since it ousted Muammar Qaddafi.
The committee has 120 days to draft the constitution, although given the state of the nation it will probably take much longer than that. When drafting the constitution the committee will need to take into consideration the East’s call for greater autonomy, the Beber’s wanting more rights, as well as a host of other groups wanting their say in the running of the new Libya.
