The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has a new member from Africa, the Republic of Congo (ROC). The ROC’s membership to OPEC was approved at the cartel’s recently held meeting in Vienna.
“The Conference considered Congo’s request to join the Organization and decided to approve its admission with immediate effect,” OPEC said in statement.
Other African member nations include Algeria, Angola, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Libya, and Nigeria.
