ConocoPhillips Takes After-tax Charge for Angola and GoM Wells

ConocoPhillips recorded an after-tax charge of $142 million net relating to two wells it drilled in Q1, one of those wells was in Angola, the other in the Gulf of Mexico (GoM).

The company drilled the Omosi-1 deepwater exploration well on Block 37 offshore Angola in the Kwanza Basin. The well was drilled to a total depth of 20,666 ft.ConocoPhillips said that a gas column of approximately 525 ft was encountered in the primary objective reservoir.  No further activity is planned at this time. The well has been plugged and abandoned.

In the GoM the well drilled the Harrier prospect in Mississippi Canyon Block 118 was drilled to a total depth of 19,400 ft. No commercial hydrocarbons were encountered; subsequently the well will be plugged and abandoned.
