Construction Starts on O&G Park in Bayelsa

Tuesday, May 1, 2018

The Nigerian government launched construction on the Oil and Gas Park in Emeyal, in the Bayelsa state. The creation of the oil and gas park is aimed at creating a regional, low-cost manufacturing hub for the Nigerian petroleum sector.

The project is being undertaken by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and is expected to provide direct employment for 2,000 Nigerians.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony Nigeria’s minister of state for petroleum, Ibe Kachukwu, said that the project would be completed within its timeframe and that President Muhammadu Buhari believes in the project.

He promised to do everything within his power to ensure that the projects started are not abandoned. “The challenge most colleagues and heads of parastatals have with me is that I don’t go to visit projects unless you can show me the tracks to completion. I don’t want to be one of those ministers who have lots of commenced, but abandoned projects.”

He went on to say that he wanted to be remembered for completed projects. “The Executive Secretary (of the NCDMB) showed me the tracks to completion. My promise to you is that we will complete this project in record time.”
