The government of Cote d’Ivoire revealed on December 14 that it has awarded Tullow Oil two new blocks. The blocks, CI-521 and CI-522, are located onshore near the country’s eastern border with Ghana where Tullow operates the Jubilee and TEN fields.

The two new blocks are in addition to the four onshore blocks the company was awarded in October and brings the company’s total number of blocks in the country to seven.

In addition, the government said that French firm SECI, a unit of Bouygues, signed contracts for two blocks.

SECI paid a signing bonus of $2.5 million while Tullow paid $1.125 million.
