Dana P Adds to Acreage in Egypt

Monday, January 13, 2014

Dana Petroleum, owned by South Korea’s KNOC, increased its acreage in Egypt over the past couple of months with the award of three concessions. At the end of 2013 the company was awarded the South Wadi Dara block in the Gulf of Suez and most recently two blocks in the Western Desert.

The company reported on January 9 that the government awarded it access to the West Dakhla 1 and 2 areas. The blocks come to Dana through its bid in Ganope’s bid round in 2010. The forecasted activities in the initial exploration phase of three years include an aero-magnetic survey and 500 km of 2D seismic.

Egypt MD Paul Barnett said: “These two concessions in the Western Desert are a welcome addition to the exploration portfolio. This, along with the award of the South Wadi Dara block in the Gulf of Suez we announced at the end of 2013, will help us build our exploration activities in Egypt.”
