Kenya’s deputy president, William Ruto’sresidence in Eldoret was attacked by unknown gunmen. Ruto and his family were not in the residence at the time. A police officer guarding the residence was wounded, KTN News reported.
The attack comes on the run up to Kenya’s presidential, legislative, and regional elections on August 8. Ruto is President Uhuru Kenyatta’s running mate. Kenyatta is seeking a second and final term in office.
