Nigeria’s Islamist militant group, the Boko Haram, are suspected in the deaths of more than 20 people in the Chadian capital of N’Djamena. According to reports, at least 27 people, including four suspected militants, were killed and 100 others were injured during the attacks.
This was the first time these attacks have been focused on a major city outside of Nigeria.
“Boko Haram is making a mistake by targeting Chad,” Communications Minister Hassan Sylla Bakari said on state television. “These lawless terrorists will be chased out and neutralized wherever they are.”
While details were not revealed by Bakari, the country’s Interior Minister Abderahim Bireme Hamid told Reuters there had been at least one suicide attack at police headquarters.
