Beach Energy Ltd. completed a DST on the Abu Sennan concession in Egypt’s Western Desert. The DST was conducted on the Kharita formation in the El Salmiya-1 well. The well flowed at a rate of 3,530 bpd of oil and 4.7 Mmcf/d of gas.
Beach said the oil column within the Kharita Formation is 223 ft (68 meters) measured depth (MD), equating to 161 ft (49 meters) true vertical depth (TVD). The sandstone appears to be of excellent quality with 184 ft (56 meters) of net pay (MD), delivering a net to gross of around 80% within the oil column.
This is the first time oil has been encountered in the Kharita Formation within the concession. Production has previously been obtained from the shallower Bahariya and Abu Roash Formations.
Beach is partnered with Kuwait Energy (operator) and Dover Investments Ltd.
