Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda moved a step closer to aiding South Sudan in ending its reliance on Sudan in order to profit from its oil production. The three countries have signed an agreement to build two pipelines in the region, according to the BBC.
One of the pipelines would run from South Sudan to the Lamu port in Kenya and another would run from Rwanda to Mombasa, Kenya.
Both of the pipelines have been in the works since South Sudan achieved its independence from Sudan and the signing of the accord between the three countries is seen as a positive step in the right direction.
