South Sudan’s neighbors in East Africa will be deploying troops into the country to help keep the peace. The troops are expected to arrive in country in mid-April and will aid in enforcing the ceasefire between government troops and rebel forces.
The chief mediator in peace talks Seyoum Mesfin said that Ethiopia, Kenya, Burundi, and Rwanda will contribute troops while Djibouti is also expected to join a force that will seek logistical support from the AU and the UN Security Council.
“These troops are envisaged to be on the ground by no later than mid-April,” Mesfin told journalists at the peace talks in Addis Ababa.
