EGAS revealed that it will carry out the largest seismic oil and gas exploration project in the Mediterranean. The Egyptian state-run gas company is planning the seismic campaign in order to secure more data to attract global exploration companies.
PGS has been contracted to carry out the 2D and 3D seismic campaigns in the western area of Egypt’s territorial Mediterranean waters.
The deal is part of a plan to increase Egypt’s domestic production of natural gas by intensifying search and exploration operations as well as conducting international auctions in areas that have not been explored previously, head of EGAS Khaled Abdel Badie said in a statement.
