Egbin Power to Build Power Plants in Tanzania

Tuesday, October 4, 2016

Egbin Power, out of Nigeria, plans to build two gas plants with a total capacity of 900 MW in Tanzania.

“We plan to build two power plants with a capacity of 450 MW each (…) All we expect is government approval and the proposal (the redemption price of electricity) to TANESCO,” said Dallas Peavey, executive director of Egbin.

Two outstanding issues in building the plants are the core specifications and their locations.

The company plans to invest $630 million in the project and says it will start work as soon as it gets the necessary approvals.

Egbin Power is a subsidiary of the Nigerian firm, Sahara Group.
