Egina FPSO Sets Sail for Nigeria

The Egina FPSO is now on its way to Nigeria. Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) successfully completed the Geoje-shipyard portion of vessel. SHI won the order to build the Egina FPSO in 2013

The Egina FPSO, the world’s largest, set sail from the shipyard for Nigeria on October 31. The trip to West Africa is expected to take an estimated three months.

The FPSO is to be installed at Total’s Egina offshore field. The gigantic vessel is 330meters in length, 61meters in breadth, and 34meters high. It boasts 2.3 million barrels of storage capacity with topsides weighing 60,000 tons.

The newbuilding contract was record-breaking in number at $3 billion, a turn-key project in which Samsung covers the entire engineering, procurement, construction, transport, and commissioning.

The Egina FPSO project is under the Nigerian local content regulations, and a portion of the topsides fabrication and integration is to be completed in Nigeria.Once it arrives offshore Nigeria the remaining topside module integration and commissioning will take place for scheduled delivery in H2 2018.
