Egypt and Ecuador Discuss Oil Industry Cooperation

Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, has met with, and the Ecuadorian Ambassador, Denys Toscano Amores, met in Cairo two discuss cooperation between the two countries in as relates to activities in the oil and gas industry.

El Molla affirmed that there are ample opportunities for joint cooperation between the two countries, adding that the Egyptian petroleum sector is fully prepared to cooperate and share expertise with Ecuador in the field of research, exploration and production.

Ambassador Amores acknowledges Egypt as a pivotal country in the region and the world, pointing to the strong friendly relations and mutual respect between the two countries.

Amores expressed his country’s desire to cooperate with Egypt in the various fields of petroleum and exchange experiences, acknowledging Egypt’s significant and long-term experience in research and exploration for oil and gas, including offshore developments. Amores added that Ecuadorian companies are keen to learn more about investment opportunities available in Egypt’s petroleum sector. The pair also discussed the compressed natural gas (CNG) sub-sector.

Moreover, Amores pointed out the desire of several oil companies from Ecuador to come to Egypt and review the investment opportunities available in the field of oil and gas.

A memorandum of understanding for cooperation between the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and the Ecuadorian Ministry of Energy and Mining for cooperation in various fields is expected to be signed in the future.
