Egypt Heads to Ethiopia to Procure Energy Investments

Monday, June 2, 2014

As the US-Africa Energy Conference gets ready to kick off in Addis Ababa, Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy is hoping to secure more financing for the North African country’s troubled power sector.

The minister, Mohamed Shaker, said the conference is aimed at encouraging US investment in African countries and to open new markets for American firms. However, relations are strained for involvement in Egypt at this time and the risk might be too high for private American firms to consider Egypt’s power sector as a priority compared to other politically stable African nations.
