Egypt signed six new oil and gas exploration contracts a Ministry of Petroleum statement said. The contracts, worth hundreds of millions of dollars, were signed with foreign and Egyptian companies.
The agreements call for the drilling of some 41 wells in the Western Desert and Gulf of Suez, the ministry said in the statement. Companies that were awarded acreage include Shell, BP and TransGlobe Energy.
ENI was also awarded acreage as reported last week on www.petroleumafrica.com, the acreage was for the South-West Melehia block in Egypt’s Western Desert.
