Egypt aims to double production at the ENI-operated Zohr gas field in the Mediterranean. The country is looking to see the field produce at a rate of 700 Mmcf/d in May, upfrom its current 350 Mmcf/d, according to Petroleum Minister Tarek El Molla cited in a Reuters report.
Discovered in 2015 by Italy’s ENI, the field contains an estimated 30 Tcf of gas.
ENI CEO Claudio Descalzi said last month that the goal was to reach 2.9 Bcf/d by mid-2019.
