The General Petroleum Company (GPC) of Egypt has achieved a production record of 62,000 barrels per day (bpd) for the first time ever since its establishment in 1957, according to a statement by the Ministry of Petroleum.
The Ministry attributes the new production record to the successful work program implemented in various oil fields in the country including the Eastern and Western Deserts, the Gulf of Suez and Sinai. The statement indicated that the work program targeted new exploration operations and the development of existing fields, in addition to bringing new wells into production and developing the infrastructure to sustain production.
This success aligns with the company’s production plans for the coming period which also includes the development of the HF36/5 exploration area in Abu Sennan in the Western Desert which is expected to be completed during H2 2020, in addition to accelerating production from well HH 83/2 in the Gulf of Suez and South Al-Hamad. GPC also has a pipeline project in the Bahar region with the Egyptian Bahraini Gas Derivative Company which aims to maximize the added value of natural gas production. The project is expected to be completed within six months and to increase GPC’s production of crude oil, natural gas, and condensates.
