The El Feel oil field in Libya has restarted production according to the country’s state-run oil company National Oil Corp. (NOC). The reopening of El Feel is part of a deal the government made with protesters that would have three western oil fields restart production. The other two are the El Sharara and Wafa fields; the deal also included the reopening of the pipelines connecting them to the Zawiya port.
The El Sharara field as of May 14 was still closed because protesters had yet to open the valve to the port field manager Hassan Sadiq was cited in a Reuters report. He said they were ready to resume production once the valve was opened.
NOC spokesman Mohammed El Harari said El Feel was pumping more than 35,000 bpd, 50,000 bpd short of its 85,000 bpd capacity. Harari said gas was flowing from Wafa, but he did not know whether pumping of liquid condensates had resumed.
