Nigerian-focused Eland Oil & Gas saw its CFO George Maxwell move up to the role of CEO. Maxwell is a founding director of Eland, previously holding the general manager position for Addax Petroleum in Nigeria.
Les Blair stepped down from the board to take on the new role of strategic advisor, effective immediately. The firm hopes to promote the company in Nigeria. In addition, Louis Castro will take Maxwell’s CFO position.
Eland Executive Chairman Harry Wilson said: “From inception of the company, Maxwell has demonstrated exceptional commercial judgment and I am pleased that he is stepping up to lead the company. Since joining the company two years ago, Castro has also proven his capability to become CFO. The new in-country strategic advisor role recognizes our need to effectively liaise with our partners and government, and promote the company in Nigeria.”
