Election Re-run Results in Violence

Sunday, October 29, 2017

The re-run of Kenya’s election has led to the same result as the first, with Uhuru Kenyatta declared the winner. The results have tensions running high and violence erupting in more than one area in the country.
Clashes erupted in various parts of Nairobi and in western Kenya, where opposition leader RailaOdinga has his stronghold. Odinga withdrew from the presidential race two weeks before the second vote. His supporters in western Kenya clashed with the police.
Six people were killed, 13 injured and 86 arrested in election-related unrest nationally, the police said last Friday.
