Mozambique saw some changes recently in the management of its oil and gas industry with the naming of a new chairman of the state-run firm ENH and a new chairman at regulator Instituto Nacional de Petroleo (INP).
Mozambican president, Filipe Nyusi, named Omar Mitha a former bank economist and deputy minister to run ENH. Mitha replaces Nelson Ocuane, who held the position since 2007. Mitha was appointed deputy trade and industry minister in January by Nyusi and was previously chief economist at Millennium Bim.
The new head of INP is former exploration manager Carlos Zacarias, replacing Arsenio Mabote. Zacarias has been exploration manager at INP for many years.
The naming of new chairmen to the industry’s top spots comes on the run up of the country moving forward with decisions regarding it becoming a natural gas exporter.
