A group calling itself the Niger Delta Avengers has claimed responsibility for a number of attacks that have taken place in the Niger Delta over the past couple of weeks. In a threat that is reminiscent of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta or MEND, the Niger Delta Avengers warned oil and gas firms to leave the region or face attacks.
On a more positive note, ExxonMobil ramped up production of Qua Iboe crude oil, a week after pipeline damage had the company declaring a force majeure on exports.
