Monday, April 30, 2018

ENI started up the second production unit (T-1) on the Zohr gas field offshore Egypt in the Mediterranean Sea. The start of T-1 increases the field’s production capacity by 400 Mmcf/d.

Zohr now has a capacity of 800 Mmcf/d, or 150,000 boepd, according to an ENI statement.

The offshore gas field is expected to continue its production increases over the next year. The Italian firm expects to see production hit 1.2 Bcf/d in May, 2 Bcf/d by the end of the year, and finally reaching its peak production rate in 2019 of 2.7 Bcf/d.

ENI holds a 60% in the Shorouk block, which contains the Zohr gas field. The company is partnered with Rosneft (30%) and BP (10%). In March ENI agreed to sell a 10% stake to the UAE’s Mubadala Petroleum.
