Monday, April 9, 2018

Italian tax authorities searched the premises of ENI for several days, in the context of a case of alleged corruption on agreements signed by its Congo subsidiary with the Congolese Ministry of Hydrocarbons, according to a Reuters report.

An investigation was opened in 2017 by the Milan prosecutor’s office to determine what the conditions were for the granting of the Marine XII permit by the government to ENI. The oil company then declared that an investigation was opened on this subject but no more.

ENI, which has been present in Congo since 1968, produces about 103,000 boepd.
