Monday, August 10, 2015

Militants loyal to ISIS kidnapped an expat oil worker in Egypt. Tomislav Salopek, working with CGG Ardiseis, was abducted on his way to work in Cairo according to a report on Ahram Online.

Militants announced over the internet that they would execute Salopek.

Salopek read a statement in the video posted by the militants “They want to substitute me with the Muslim women arrested in Egyptian prisons,” he said. “This matter has to be achieved within 48 hours from now. If not, the soldiers from Wilayat Sinai will kill me.”

Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic said she would talk to her Egyptian counterpart, Abdel-Fattah El-Sissi, about the Salopek kidnapping, and that Croatian authorities were doing all in their power to resolve it.
