ExxonMobil has cancelled a contract for its use of a drillship. According to Seadrill Partners, the US supermajor cancelled its contract for the West Capella drillship, which has a dayrate of $627,500.
Seadrill will receive around $125 million in payment for the cancellation plus other direct costs incurred as a result of the early termination.
The West Capella has been working offshore Nigeria in the Usan field but now will be marketed for new work.
