ExxonMobil Exports Offshore Crude from US

Monday, April 18, 2016

The first export oil from an offshore field since the US government lifted the ban left Gramercy, Louisiana earlier this month. All other crude exported from the US since the ban was lifted has been from onshore fields.

The crude was from ExxonMobil’s Julia field in the deepwater GoM and is bound for the firm’s Rotterdam refinery.

ExxonMobil loaded 18,000 barrels of oil on the PGC Marina, a Panamax tanker. While the load is not significant, it is the first test flows from the Julia field and will be tested by the refinery to see how the new crude will impact yields from making fuels.
