Reports have ExxonMobil close to signing a deal that will give it access to acreage offshore Mauritania. The country’s oil, energy, and mines director, Moustapha Bechir, said that the parties have agreed on terms for three blocks.
Bechir also said that the US supermajor was expected to sign the deal for the three blocks soon.
The discoveries made in Mauritania and over the maritime border in Senegal have increased interest in the potential of both countries.
