Thursday, March 29, 2018

Algeria and its state-run firm Sonatrach let it be known some time ago that it was interested in attracting international firms to help explore the potential of its offshore acreage. According to the state-run firm’s CEO, Abdelmoumen Ould Kaddour, major IOCs are starting to express an interest.

The Sonatrach CEO said that Anadarko, ENI, Statoil, and Total have all shown interest in helping the country start offshore drilling.

“They are interested in joining Sonatrach to develop offshore drilling activity in Algeria,” Kaddour said in a state news agency report.

Sonatrach has launched seismic studies near the coastal cities of Oran and Bejaia to evaluate the hydrocarbon potential and to contemplate offshore drilling plans, the CEO also said.
