Five companies have submitted offers to the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity for the development of Hamrawein coal-fired power plant. The plant, once constructed, will have a production capacity of 6,000 MW.
The five firms that submitted offers are Shanghai Electric, Dongfang Electric Corp., GE, Mitsubishi-Hitachi, and Doosan.
Mohamed Shaker, the Minister of Electricity, in a Daily News Egypt report said the firms have signed MoUs with Egypt over the course of the last two years.
The project, once a firm has been selected, will be executed under EPC plus financing scheme.
