Former Minister of Petroleum for Nigeria, Diezani Alison-Madueke, was arrested in London on October 2. Alison-Madueke was arresting with four other people by the UK National Crimes Agency.
According to reports out of the UK, she was arrested for offences related to bribery, corruption and money laundering. There was not an official report naming Alison-Madueke, however on its website the International Corruption Unit said it arrested five people on suspicion of bribery and corruption offences.
Media in Nigeria reported that the minister had made bail a few hours after she had been arrested.
Alison-Madueke held the position of minister under former president, Goodluck Jonathan, but left office in June.
