A French court ordered millions of euros in assets belonging to the son of Equatorial Guinea’s president Teodoro Obiangseized. Teodorin Obiang, was found guilty in absentia for using money plundered from his country to buy property and luxury cars.
The French court also handed down a three-year suspended prison sentence and a suspended €30 million fine. Obiang was found guilty of embezzlement, and the court ordered the confiscation of more than €100 million worth of his French assets. Obiang denied the charges
